Mason City man escapes injury after car veers into field to avoid deer

CLEAR LAKE – A Mason City man avoided injury after his car veered into a field to avid a deer.

A single vehicle collision was reported on April 28, 2022. At 10:01 PM that evening, at Killdeer Avenue and 255th Street in Clear Lake, the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s was called to investigate the incident. The driver, 23-year-old Luke Braniff of Mason City, was driving a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on 255th Street when a deer entered the roadway causing Braniff to veer off the roadway into the south field. Braniff sustained minor injuries. At this time, Braniff declined medical assistance and was not transported to the hospital.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department and Clear Lake Fire Department.
