ESTHERVILLE – The NIACC baseball team pushed its winning streak to eight games with a 10-4 ICCAC victory over Iowa Lakes on Tuesday.

The eight-game win streak, which includes one win over Iowa Central, three wins over Iowa Lakes and four wins over Marshalltown CC, is the longest streak for the Trojans since they won 13 straight from April 20-May 5, 2018.

In the eight-game win streak, NIACC has scored at least 10 runs in all eight of the victories, including two 14-13 victories over Iowa Lakes in Mason City last week.

In Tuesday’s win, NIACC collected 11 hits to score its 10 runs with five of the 11 hits being for extra bases. Cole Fuecker homered and the Trojans also collected doubles from Ike Mezzenga, Cayden Nicoletto, Bennett McCollow and Gunnar Hansen.

Fuecker, who was the ICCAC player of the week for the week of April 18-24, has homered in three straight games and has eight for the season.

Mezzenga, Nicoletto, Fuecker and Hansen all provided two hits for the Trojans.

Cole Hupke (2-2) gained the win on the mound for NIACC. Hupke struck out nine and walked two in five innings of work while allowing three runs on four hits.

Noah Tieskoetter and Jon Koehn both pitched two innings of relief for the Trojans. Tieskoetter, who struck out four and did not walk a batter, did not allowed three hits and no runs.

Koehn allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

NIACC (26-14 overall, 14-9 in the ICCAC) looks to push its win streak to 10 games on Wednesday with a home doubleheader against Ellsworth. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
