MASON CITY – NIACC’s Jacob Mrosko was selected as the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the week of April 4-10.

The sophomore right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter with nine strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter in the Trojans’ 11-0 five-inning win over Southwestern in the first game of a doubleheader last Saturday at Roosevelt Field. Mrosko took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before allowing a two-out double to Joel Sampson.

Mrosko (3-2) has 46 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched. The 46 strikeouts ranks sixth in the ICCAC.

Mrosko, who is from Chanhassen, Minn., is the third NIACC player this season to earn ICCAC player of the week honors. Logan Milene was the player of the week for the week of Feb. 14-20 and Bennett McCollow was the player of the week for the week of March 28-April 3.

NIACC (18-10 overall, 7-5 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Iowa Lakes. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
