Kenneth Ackerman, 86, of Ackley, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home in Ackley. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Washington Reformed Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.
Kenneth Russell Ackerman was born on December 16, 1935 on the family farm in rural Butler County to Dick and Caroline (Kreimeyer) Ackerman. Kenneth attended school until the 8th grade. After 8th grade, he began work on the family farm due to the death of his brother Robert in a farm accident in October of 1952.
On November 16, 1960, Kenneth was united in marriage to Gertrude Ulfers in the Washington Reformed Church. Kenneth served as Sunday School Treasurer and sang in the men’s choir.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Gertrude of Ackley, son Dawson (Gwen) Ackerman of Stout, grandson Jacob (Hope) Ackerman of Ackley, Nathan (Emilee) Ackerman of Ackley and Nicholas (fiancé Livy Martin-King) of Forest City, great-grandchildren Piper and River Ackerman with one more on the way in August, numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends at Genesis Apartments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, sisters Dorothy and Darlene and a half-brother Bert Garrells.
