OBIT: Debra Sue Mitchell (Howard)

Debra Sue Mitchell, the daughter of Arthur and Janet (Clinton) Howard, was born on October 17, 1955 in Estherville. She passed away on March 27, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 66 years.

A Celebration of Debra’s life will be held from 11am-2pm, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Milford Community Building, 806 N Ave, Milford, Iowa 51351.

She graduated from Estherville High School before marrying Ronnie Mitchell. Later in life, Debra graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with a degree in business management.

Over the years Debra lived in Estherville and Emmetsburg, but most recently lived in Okoboji. She worked for the Estherville Hospital, Good Samaritan Center, Berkley, and Horizons in Emmetsburg.

In her free time, Debra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching hummingbirds, going boating, and watching movies. Most importantly, she loved Jesus. Debra was a member of Cross Winds Church in Spirit Lake.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nikkie (Greg) Hanson and Robbie Mitchell; her husband, Ronnie Mitchell; 15 grandchildren, Austin (Alyson) Mitchell, Will Mitchell, Ireland Mitchell, Ava Mitchell, Skyler Tindall, Weston Mitchell, Spencer Mitchell, Layla Schwager, Lillie Schwager, Laney Schwager, Elli Hanson, Tyce Hanson, Cain Hanson, Paityn Hanson, and Paislee Hanson; 5 great-grandchildren, Zander Mitchell, Traysen Mitchell, Huxley Mitchell, Kenzlee Mitchell, and Faith Campbell; and her siblings, Lisa (Jay) Pomerenke and Clinton (Marcia) Howard.

Debra is preceded in death by two children, Ashlie Mitchell and Jamie Mitchell, sister Brenda and her twin sister, Barbra and her parents.
