NIACC baseball team splits with Indian Hills

CENTERVILLE – The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC doubleheader with Indian Hills Monday.
Indian Hills won the first game 11-3 and NIACC won the second game 3-2.

In the second game, NIACC (12-10 overall, 2-5 in the ICCAC) scored a single run in the first inning and pushed across two runs in the third inning.

Logan Milene plated NIACC’s run in the first inning with a single.
In the third inning, NIACC’s Ike Mezzenga had an RBI single and Cole Fuecker collected an RBI with a groundout.
Indian Hills scored single runs in the third and seventh innings.

NIACC’s Brandt Thompson (1-1) gained the win on the mound. Thompson allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings of work.
NIACC’s Jon Koehn pitched a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to gain the save.
In the first game, NIACC scored two runs in the first inning and one run in the eighth inning.

In the first inning, Milene plated a run with a groundout and Cayden Nicoletto had an RBI double.
In the eighth inning, NIACC’s Cody Kelly had an RBI single.

NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home against Iowa Central in a single game starting at 3 p.m.
