MILWAUKEE, WI – Iowa State defeated Wisconsin, 54-49, to reach the Sweet 16.
This defensive struggle made scoring a premium. Iowa State scored a layup with about 1 second left in the first half on an inbounds pass to go into the break up 27-26.
A 9-0 run in the second half put Iowa State up to stay. The defensive-minded Cyclones held Big Ten Player of The Year Johnny Davis to 4-16 shooting.
Iowa State faces Miami on Friday in Chicago for a shot at the Elite 8.
