OBIT: Judy Curtis

Judith (Judy) Kay Curtis, 76, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa following a brief illness.

Judy was born on June 15, 1945 to Ervin and Margaret (Schultz) Ernst of rural Cresco where they farmed for many years. She graduated from Crestwood High School in 1963. On November 2, 1963 she was united in marriage to Ward I. Curtis. In addition to farming, both Ward and Judy turned their hobbies of Christmas trees and crafts into a full-time business that is now known as Curtis Trees and Gifts. Judy was very involved in many school and church-related activities including being a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a leader for Immanuel’s Youth Luther League and helped to plan Crestwood High School’s first post prom party. Judy spent much of her time working with her daughter, Wendy, with her gift shop and wedding business, as well as spending time with her grandchildren who she adored and spoiled with her love.

Judy is survived by her husband; Ward, her son; Greg Curtis, her daughter and her husband; Wendy (Jeff) Murphy, her four grandchildren; Wyatt Curtis, Curtis Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Shayla (Kyle) Maere, and her sister and her husband; Sharon (Alton) Midthus.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Margaret (Schultz) Ernst.
