OBIT: Helen Teeple

Helen Teeple, 99, of Knoxville, Iowa, formerly Mason City, Iowa, went home to heaven on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa.

A funeral service for Helen Teeple will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, Iowa with Pastor Mechille Boldt officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City, Iowa.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Helen was the first born to Albert and Louise Gossweiler on July 8, 1922 on a farm in Rockwell, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell school. After school, she worked at the Rockwell Hospital. She was united in marriage to Max Eugene Teeple on January 6, 1946.

Helen worked for 24 years in the school lunch program at Floyd and Charles City schools. Her cooking skills continued to be put to use every year for many years at the Floyd County Fair. She was very involved with her local church in Floyd. Over 40 years there wasn’t a church supper that Helen was not involved in. She was known for her roast beef gravy.

Helen is survived by two sons and one daughter: Don Teeple, Terry (Kristie) Teeple and Connie (Jim) Tangeman all of Monroe, Iowa; four grandchildren: Andy (Jackie) Teeple, Kim (Bryan) Schainker, Brandon Teeple, and Brett (Lacy) Tangeman; five great-grandchildren: Fallon Teeple, Lennox Teeple, Tate Tangeman, Kinzie Tangeman and Brody Tangeman. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Albert Gossweiler, Richard Gossweiler and Nellie Crafton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; two sisters: Selina Gossweiler and Dolores Hudson; grandson, Nick Quinby; along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, Iowa.
