CORALVILLE – An Iowa sex abuser of children died of natural causes in prison.
Charles Leroy Zipprich was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 9:21 a.m. on Tuesday, Febraury 22, 2022 at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. Zipprich was 70 years old at the time of his death.
Zipprich had been serving a 25-year maximum term for the crimes of SEXUAL ABUSE – 2ND DEGREE – 85% from Lee County. His sentence began on October 17, 2000.
Zipprich was charged with sex abuse offenses based on allegations of sexual contact with two nine-year-olds, Michelle and Amanda, with whom he resided. The department of human services was informed of these allegations by the mother of a friend with whom Michelle confided her experiences. Amanda and Michelle repeated the allegations in a subsequent interview with a child protection worker assigned to their case.
