A memorial service for Ramona Anderson of Algona will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona, with Deacon David Penton and Deacon Donald McGuire of Divine Mercy Parish St. Cecelia Catholic Church officiating . Inurnment will be in RIverview Cemetery. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Ramona Ann Anderson was born November 22, 1948, in Algona, daughter of Louis and Julia Frances (Rodadinger) Gatton. She grew up in Algona. Ramona was married to Herman Alvie “Butch” Anderson on March 27, 1970, in Canton, South Dakota.
Ramona and Herman made their home in Algona where they raised their two daughters. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and she was an excellent cook.
Ramona died Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Southfield Wellness Center in Webster City at the age of 73.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy McNertney and her husband Chris of Brownsburg, IN, and Kim Greiner and her husband Wade of Webster City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cassidy and Dawson McNertney, Michael Darrah and his wife Anne and their children Camron and Morgan, and Matthew Darrah and his wife Brandy and their children Quentin and Lillian. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Gatton and his wife Alexis of Mason City; a sister, Louise Strayer and her husband John of Kissimmee, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Butch on May 3, 2003; and a sister, Ellie Roth.
