OBIT: Beverly Peterson

Beverly Peterson, 89, of Alden, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2022 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Alden United Methodist Church with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Beverly Ann Peterson was born January 6, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Florence (Stout) Fuller. She attended grade school in Waterloo and Maynard and graduated from Popejoy High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Merle “Mike” Peterson at the Popejoy Methodist Church on September 4, 1951. When her husband returned from service in Korea in April 1953, they made their home in rural Alden, where they farmed.

Beverly was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and Alden United Methodist Women. She was very active in many areas, teaching Sunday School, church treasurer, chairman of the funeral committee for many years, treasurer of the women’s group and of course her pickles she made for the church for many years. Many called them “Peterson Pickles”. She was a homemaker, who also helped out with the farming operation. She enjoyed watching the grandchildren play in their sports.

She is survived by two sons Jess (Terri) Peterson of Alden, Dean (Carol) Peterson of St. Johns, Michigan; seven grandchildren Jill Peterson (fiancé Jeramy Huisenga) of Iowa Falls, Lisa (Nick) Riley and their daughters Peyton and Reagan of Waverly, Jamie Peterson of West Des Moines, Joseph of Lansing, Michigan, Katelyn of Madison, Wisconsin, Steven (Lauren) and their daughter Olivia of L.A., California and Jenna of Wilmington, North Carolina, sister-in-law Velma Fuller of Popejoy, Iowa, brother-in-law Gary Classon of Hiawatha and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years, brother Ronald Fuller and sisters-in-law Dottie Peterson and Karen Classon.
