CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa man was stabbed and nearly killed by his son during a fight early Friday morning.
On January 14, 2022, at approximately 3:47 AM, Cedar Rapids police were dispatched to 4024 Wilson Avenue SW regarding a stabbing. Officers located Jonathan Youngbear, age 65, suffering from a stab wound to his abdominal area. Jonathan Youngbear was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Initial investigation indicates Jonathan Youngbear and his son, Jared Youngbear, age 26, were in a verbal altercation during which Jared stabbed his father.
Jared Youngbear was arrested on charges of attempted murder, willful injury, and assault domestic abuse with a weapon with serious injury.
