CLEAR LAKE – Prudent Produce announced today that they are joining forces with North Iowa Fresh to bring more local and healthy foods to Central and North-Central Iowa.
Elkhart-based Prudent Produce has acquired Clear Lake-based North Iowa Fresh. This acquisition extends Prudent Produce’s delivery area to North Central Iowa. Starting at the beginning of March, customers in North Central Iowa will be able to shop Prudent Produce’s vast selection of local goods, produce, meat, dairy, pantry staples, gluten-free products, and so much more. With a commitment to supporting local, Prudent Produce has been connecting Iowa farmers with consumers via delivery for over 10 years. When local is not available, they source organic produce and other goods to maintain year-round availability for customers. This merger will also make it easier for Prudent to source from several of the North Central Iowa farms that had partnered with North Iowa Fresh. “We are thrilled to be able to strengthen our local food system here in Iowa by connecting our current producers with more customers, as well, introducing new producers to our current Central Iowa customers,” says Prudent’s Tony Thompson. Deliveries will be made on Thursdays to the North Central Iowa customers.
Founded in 2010, Prudent Produce is based on their family’s century-old farm in Elkhart and connects hundreds of customers with more than 50 Iowa food farmers, dozens of other producers, and food artisans, and other good foods from around the country. This delivery service brings local and healthy groceries to the doorsteps of homes all over Central and now North Central Iowa on a weekly basis.
