A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Bancroft. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Bancroft.
Mary Lou (Avery) Funke was born February 19, 1952 in Albert Lea, MN, daughter of Edgar and Betty (Budach) Avery. She grew up in Albert Lea, MN where she graduated High School.
On October 23, 1970, Mary was united in marriage to Francis “Frank” Funke. Shortly after their marriage they made their home in Bancroft.
In Mary’s younger years, she worked at the care center. Mary also worked seasonally for Green Giant and enjoyed making Christmas wreaths.
Mary enjoyed socializing; loved her animals, including all her pet birds throughout the years; but most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mary died Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Kossuth Regional Heath Center. She was 69.
She is survived by her four sons, Francis “Lee” Funke of Bancroft, Larry (Genell) Funke of Harlan, Bradley (Latricia) Funke of Bancroft; and Justin (Renee) Funke of Bancroft; and seven grandchildren, William, Samantha, Alyssa, Erik, Zoey, Zeela, and Zuke; siblings, Vic (Donna) Avery of Albert Lea, MN, and Phyllis (Gerald) Lamping of Hibbing, MN. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Nancy Avery of Owatonna, MN, Maxine (Donald) Leff of Lime Springs, Marketta Souhrada of Riceville; brother-in-law, Carroll (Ellen) Funke of North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Frank on October 26, 2012; brother, Allan Avery; brothers-in-law, David, Jim Clarence, Merrill, Paul, and Harvey; and sisters-in-law, Mary and Inez.
