OBIT: Marge M. Schleusner

Marge M. Schleusner, 92, of Garner died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 24, 2021 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Fr. Andrew Marr officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Cataldo Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Marie Schleusner, the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Nedved) Ptacek, was born February 1, 1929 on a farm south of Duncan. She attended the rural schools of Liberty Township, Hancock County. On February 9, 1948 she was married to Louis “Bud” Schleusner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They lived on the Schleusner home place northwest of Garner until the spring of 1973 when they moved to their home west of Garner. Marge and Bud farmed together until their sons took over the family operation. After Bud passed away in 2005, she continued to live in their home up until the last few months. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, playing cards and going to casinos.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Marge is survived by her children: daughter, Mary K. (Duane) Hess of Dows; daughter-in-law, Cindy Schleusner of Garner; son, Gary (Connie) Schleusner of Garner; daughter, Linda (Dale) Upmeyer of Garner; daughter, Connie (Dwight) Dornbier of Wesley; son, Donny (Kay) Schleusner of Garner; 22 grandchildren and their families, Kendra (Rich) Knowles and their three children, Camren, Kayla and Colin, Karla Schuknecht (fiancé, Brent Wellik) and her three children, McKenna, Kaden and Kolton, Brian (Holly) Hess and their four children, Keelee, Parker, Rowan and Elliott, David Hess, Travis (Laura) Schleusner and their three children, twins Trevor and Josephine (Josie) and Cooper, Rachel (Jesse) Stensrud and their two children, Ella and Levi, Todd (Emma) Schleusner and their two children, Berkley and Kane, Bridget (Greg) Prehm and their three children Tyler, Carson and Maddison, Chris Schleusner, Casey (Katie) Schleusner and their three children, Reese, Jackson and Kit, Brittany Schleusner (fiancé, Kole Disney), Kristi (Derrick) Meyer and son, Bridger, Nick (Kim) Upmeyer and their two children, Aubrey and Banks, Brad (Ashley) Upmeyer and their three children, Ellery, Eason and Reign, Lori (Kelly) Peters and children, Anna and Eve, Angie (Andy) Kudej and their four children, Emma, Logan, Landen and Lukas, Matt (Bobbi Jo) Dornbier and their two children, Jori and Jantz, Alison (Steve) Rosenmeyer and their three children, Wyatt, Weston and Walker, Cody (Justine) Dornbier and their four children, Landon, Cambria, Cordell and Callyana, Brooke (Chad) Anderson and their five children, Briar, Carter, Beau, Hadley and Hudson, Keri (Tommy) McKinley and their four children, Mason, Peyton, Paxtyn and Maxton and Ami (Robert) Black and their son, Maverick; two sisters, Sally Weiskamp of Britt and Frances (Allan) Doughan of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; son, Randy; and siblings, Mary Kral, Tony Ptacek, Agnes Kumsher, Blanche Witte and Clarence Ptacek.
