MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team (7-2 overall, 2-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action Dec. 30-31 at the Minnesota West Classic in Worthington, Minn. The Trojans face Minnesota West Community and Technical College (4-7) at 6 p.m. on Dec. 30 and play the Bethany Lutheran College Junior Varsity at noon on New Year’s Eve.
Last time out: NIACC topped Marshalltown CC 95-67 in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym on Dec. 11. Audrey Martinez-Stewart led the Trojans with a career-high 20 points. Alyssa Hames scored 13 points and grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds. Jackie Pippett scored 11 points and Amaya Doree and Ziyannah Conner both scored 10 points.
For the record: NIACC was 19 of 24 from the free-throw line against Marshalltown CC … The Trojans are 140 of 181 (77.3 percent) from the free-throw line, which ranks 1st in NJCAA Division II … Hames was selected as the ICCAC player of the week for the week of Dec. 6-12 for her performance against Marshalltown CC.

NIACC was led by Cortaviaus Seales with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Also for the Trojans, Jeffrey Skogen scored 13 points. Noah Rigaguso scored 10 points with 4 rebounds. Myles Tucker and Tysen Brennan both scored 9 points.
For the record: NIACC averages 86.3 points per game … Seales averages 14.3 points per game to lead the Trojans … Bradley Andrews leads the team with 14 3-point goals … Skogen averages 5.6 rebounds per game to lead the Trojans … Seales leads the team with 55 assists and 24 steals.
