Kathleen Marguerite Hummel of Riceville, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Riceville Family Care Center.
Kathleen was born in Riceville to Paul and Anna (Meyer) Mayer on May 11, 1933.
She graduated from Riceville High School in 1952. She then moved to Waterloo, Iowa where she worked at Rath Office and Power Manufacturing Company where they made sports clothing. She also worked briefly at LPC in Leroy, Minnesota and the Riceville Community Nursing Home in the housekeeping department. She loved children and enjoyed babysitting for several families in the Riceville area.
She was united in marriage to Seth Jr. Hummel in 1955 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville.
Kathleen loved all sports especially football and golf. She was a member of St. Rita Study Club and had a very strong faith.
Kathleen is survived by her six children; Nancy (Jeff) Lewis of Floyd, Jane (Larry) Losee, Tom Hummel, Terry Hummel, Sandy (Scott) Sullivan and Barb (Jim) Conger, all of Riceville, 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, husband, six brothers and four sisters.
Even though the family she left behind is devastated by her loss, they know that there is a wonderful celebration going on in Heaven.
