Mason City police investigating after person riding in car shot

MASON CITY – Mason City police are investigating after a person riding in a car was shot.

At approximately 3:33 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, Mason City Police were summoned to the MercyOne Emergency Room for a person who presented there for treatment of a gunshot wound. Officers arrived and found that the shooting victim did not sustain life threatening injuries.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the shooting had occurred in the 400 block of 1st Street NE while the injured victim was a passenger in a motor vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately drove to the hospital to get the passenger treatment.

An investigation was made at the scene and the driver of the vehicle is fully cooperating with our investigation. The injured party is not cooperating with the ongoing investigation as of the time of this press release. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Lt.
