OBIT: Daniel “Louie” Malkmus

Daniel “Louie” Malkmus, age 59 of Dakota City formerly of Livermore, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the West Bend Health and Rehab in West Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Livermore. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Sons of the American Legion Presentation at 6:00 PM at Lentz Funeral Home in Livermore.

Dan “Louie” was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on November 19, 1962 to Pete and Joan (Leonard) Malkmus. He attended school with the class of ’82 at Twin Rivers Community Schools in Livermore and Bode.

Dan “Louie” was most recently employed by Hawkeye Pride Egg Farm in Corwith. He was affiliated with S.A.L. of Iowa (Sons of the American Legion) Otto Field Post #415 in Livermore. He was also known for his chicken bbq’ing skills for numerous events.

He is survived by his sisters, Barbara (Rodney) Mallison of Humboldt, Linda (Scott) Thompson of Humboldt, Judy Kutschara of Livermore and Becky (Jerry) Kayser of Fountain Hills, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding “Louie” in death are his parents and grandparents.
