OBIT: Judith Hanna

Judith Kay Hanna, age 75, of McIntire, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.

Judi was born on April 22, 1946, in McIntire, Iowa, daughter of Howard Hockens and Florence (Butterfield) Holmen. She graduated from Riceville High School, then lived in McIntire and the surrounding areas throughout her whole life. On August 29, 1964, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hanna at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they raised three children: Tammy, Tracy and Troy.

Judi spent most of her life doing what she loved, which was being a homemaker. She loved to cook and bake for her family and anyone who walked thru her door. She was well known for her home cooked meals, baked pies, applesauce, peanut brittle, and Halloween popcorn balls. She enjoyed gardening with her family, sewing, coffee hour in the morning (and afternoon), grandchildren included. Many laughs and good times were spent around the kitchen table. She liked to take her weekly shopping trips to Charles City, every Thursday. She loved to shop at the Treasure Chest, finding a little something for everyone.

As a child growing up, she was like a second mother to her siblings, helping with their needs. She loved them dearly.

Most of all Judi had a love for her family. They always brought a smile to her face as she did to theirs. She and Marvin attended many of their grandchildren’s activities, enjoyed the sleepovers and loved watching them grow.

Judi will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She would do anything for anybody and will be dearly missed by all those she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin of 57 years, her children; Tammy (Scott) McMasters of Rose Creek, MN, Tracy (Mark) Hanna of Sheffield, IA and Troy (Cassie) Hanna of Rose Creek, MN, 11 grandchildren; Heather, Matt (Brittany), and Tyler Kressin, Adam (Camille), Derek (Megan) and Hannah McMasters, Brittany (Ryan) Gappa, Madison (Caleb) Hanna, Harrison, Maverick, and Scarlett Hanna, six great-grandchildren; Mason, Chandler, Lex, Lennon, Calder, and Carson. She is also survived by her six siblings; Sharon (Leo) Runde, Kim (Rick) Derry, Lori (Mark) Kramer all of McIntire, IA, Nancy (Herb) Robertson of Minneapolis, MN, Sindee (Mark) Koenigs of Meyer, IA and John (Connie) Holmen of Riceville, IA along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence, a brother, Daniel, sister-in-law, Lura Hockens, stepfather, Al Holmen, nieces, Jeanie Hockens and Jill Robertson, and nephews; Casey Koenigs, Taylor Koenigs and Nick Robertson.
