Cops nab two men with stolen property at Northern Iowa salvage yard

SAC COUNTY, IOWA – Cops nabbed two men with stolen property at a Northern Iowa salvage yard.

On November 3, 2021, at 9:18AM, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to Warrens Salvage located at 2188 Dean Ave., Schaller, Iowa. The nature of the complaint was two persons were in possession of stolen property and the owner of the property was present.

When a deputy sheriff arrived, 29-year old Joshua Mitchell of Sac City and 25-year old Cole Hammond of Odebolt were found in possession of a flatbed trailer that was loaded with sheet metal. Both me were selling the sheet metal, when the owner of the flatbed trailer and sheet metal arrived at the property.

It was determined that both me took the flatbed trailer loaded with sheet metal from a farm place in rural Buena Vista County. Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and responded too. Mitchell and Hammond were placed under arrest and transported to the Buena Vista County.

Later that afternoon Sac County Sheriff’s officials recovered additional stolen property relating to this case at a vacant farm property located at 1695 Perkin’s Ave., Nemaha.

Mitchell and Hammond have since been charged by Sac County with possession burglary tools an aggravated misdemeanor and possession of stolen property a class “D” felony. Mitchell will be brought to the Sac County jail upon his release from Buena Vista County.
