College Basketball: Iowa 89, Kansas City 57

IOWA CITY – Iowa defeated Kansas City, 89-57, Friday might at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Sophomore forward Keegan Murray led the Hawkeyes in scoring and reached 24+ points for the second straight game, netting a game-best and career-high 25 points. Murray had a personal 10-0 scoring spurt spanning 3:04 of the second half.

Jordan Bohannon sank three 3-pointers. He has made 373 triples; he is one shy of the Big Ten all-time record held by Ohio State’s Jon Diebler (2008-11).

Filip Rebraca snagged a game-high 13 rebounds, to go along with nine points.

Four Hawkeye starters scored nine points or more.

The Hawkeyes had two scoring runs of 10-0 or more. Iowa closed the first half on a 10-0 run and scored 15 straight midway through the second half. Iowa has had scoring runs of 10-0 or more a combined five times in two games.

Iowa scored the first seven points of the game and 10 of the first 12.

Iowa dominated the Roos on fast break points (26-4).

Iowa improved to 3-0 all-time against Kansas City.

Iowa (2-0) returns to action next Tuesday, hosting North Carolina Central. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
