Fort Dodge police investigating brutal stabbing that leaves woman in critical condition

FORT DODGE – Fort Dodge police are investigating a brutal stabbing that left a woman in critical condition.

On Tuesday, November 2 at approximately 2:08 A.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call regarding the welfare of a female friend at 2418 12th Avenue South. The caller indicated that the female had texted her stating someone was in her home and to call the police. No other immediate details were given at that time.

Officers responded to 2418 12th Avenue South and initially received no response from inside the residence. Officers entered the residence and located a female suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department were dispatched to the scene while officers began emergency medical treatment on the victim. The residence and immediate area were canvassed, and no suspects were located.

The 21-year-old female victim had sustained significant injuries from multiple stab wounds and was ultimately Life Flighted to a Des Moines area hospital in critical condition. Patrol Officers and Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division worked the case throughout the morning hours and have continued following up on leads throughout the day.

The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone who may have information, or video surveillance of the area around this time, is encouraged to contact law enforcement. Based on the information provided at this time, police feel this was an isolated incident among known individuals and not a random act. The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted on scene by the Fort Dodge Fire Department.
