Sherri Lynn Powell, 59, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Saint. Marys Campus – Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm for family and 5:00pm to 7:00pm for friends, on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA. The family kindly requests that all those in attendance wear masks.

Family will have a private Graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sherri was born on January 17, 1962, the daughter of Paul and Connie (Belleli) Hiatt of Mason City. She was a graduate of Mason City High School. During the summer before her senior year, she met the love of her life Dick Powell. On October 18, 1980, Sherri married Dick Powell, together they were blessed with three loving children, Abby, Mandi and Josh. For countless years, she worked at North Iowa Textiles Services.

Having a great sense of humor, it was often that Sherri brought a smile to many faces. One way she did that was by carrying on the family tradition of her dad’s “PJ’s”. It seems as if Sherri always brought a fun time with her. Her kids will remember her as a caring, nonjudgmental mom who gave endlessly and loved unconditionally. She was always there for her children and grandchildren supporting them in every way possible. Although two of Sherri’s children live in California, she made the effort to keep the bonds strong as if there were no miles in between them.

Cooking was another way she could show her family love. The grandkids are going to miss her goulash and sharing her favorite snack, potato chips aka “carrots”. Sherri and Dick’s favorite pastime together was traveling. Whether it was a two hour ride somewhere or a trip to California to see their kids and grandkids. Sherri loved spending time by the water, whether it was a lake, ocean or a river somewhere.

Those left to cherish memories of Sherri are her husband of 40 years, Dick Powell; children, Abby Powell, Mandi and husband Chris Ramos, and Josh Powell; brother, Doug Hiatt; Grandchildren, Keegan Kramer, Kendall Marshall, Alli Marshall, Eviana Ramos and Oaklynn Ramos; best friends, Diane and Kim Servantez; her beloved chocolate lab, Chip; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Sherri is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother, Daryl Hiatt and her sister, Carol Ann Hiatt.
