Northern Iowa man hurt in motorcycle accident

DICKINSON COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man was hurt in motorcycle accident this past weekend.

On September 4, 2021 at around 9:36 PM, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to motorcycle accident near the intersection of 260th Avenue (M56) and 160th Street.

Gerald Kirchner, age 62 of Terril, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson southbound on 260th Avenue when he failed to make the curve. Kirchner then entered the east ditch and was ejected from the motorcycle. Kirchner was suspected to have serious or incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The motorcycle was considered totaled.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance, Spirit Lake Police Department, Spirit Lake First Responders, and Boji Tow.
