Couple arrested for crimes in multiple Iowa counties after burglarizing rural Algona campground

ALGONA – Cops tracked down and arrested a couple for crimes in multiple Iowa counties after burglarizing a rural Algona campground.

On 08-17-2021, the Kossuth County Sheriffs Office took a report of a burglary and theft at the Smith Lake Campground north of Algona. The suspects forcibly entered a motor vehicle and committed a theft of property, including personal identity and financial instruments belonging to the victim.
This lead to an investigation of a burglary at the victims residence in Algona. The Kossuth County Sheriffs Office and Algona Police Department conducted a joint investigation, including releasing photos and information of possible suspects to the public and surrounding agencies. Investigating Officers were able to track the suspects when they used stolen credit cards in counties south of Kossuth County.

As a result of an investigation, two suspects were arrested and currently being held in Hardin County. They are facing charges in multiple counties, including but not limited to, burglary, theft, theft of motor vehicle(s) and ongoing criminal conduct. These same two individuals will be charged in Kossuth County and arrests warrants will be issued and they will be extradited to Kossuth County when they are released from Hardin County.

The defendants are 25-year-old Logan Dane Plante of Newton and 27-year-old Macey Lynn Wignall of State Center, Iowa..
