EMMET COUNTY, IOWA – A single vehicle crash Monday morning claims the life of a Graettinger woman in rural Emmet County.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens a 911 call was received at the communications center reporting a single vehicle roll-over accident at 10:26 am Tuesday August 23rd. Upon investigation at the scene, it was determined that a 2011 Toyota Tundra was traveling south in the 1700 block of 490th Avenue when it entered the east ditch then struck a field approach before flipping onto it’s top.
The driver Kim Driftmier age (66) of rural Graettinger was trapped in the vehicle before being extricated by personnel on the scene. Driftmier was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital where she later died of injuries related to the accident. The Emmet County Medical Examiner’s Office has ordered an autopsy in regard to the investigation.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Estherville Ambulance Service, Armstrong Fire and Rescue and Emmet County Conservation.
