Suspects caught in the act burglarizing North Iowa home

RUTHVEN, IOWA – A pair of suspects were caught in the act burglarizing a North Iowa home.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says that on August 5, 2021, at 12:55 AM, they were called to 1607 Burns Street in Ruthven, for a possible burglary of that residence. When deputies arrived on scene, the subjects were still inside of the residence. Following an investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Lee Jepson (37) of Storm Lake, on charges of 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony and Trespassing, a Simple Misdemeanor. Braulio Hernandez Jr. (28) of Okoboji, was arrested on charges of 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony, Trespassing, a Simple Misdemeanor, and Possession of Methamphetamine (3rd or Subsequent Offense, a Class D Felony. Both Jepson and Hernandez were placed in jail to await their initial appearances before a judge.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Emmetsburg Police Department.
