Mason City police nab man suspected of robbing Dairy Queen, find drugs and stolen property at his house

MASON CITY – Mason City police nabbed a man suspected of robbing Dairy Queen and found drugs and stolen property at his house.

On the morning of Aug 7, 2021, an employee arrived to work at the Mason City Dairy Queen (3481 4 ST SW) before the store was open for normal business. Once the employee was inside, the employee was soon confronted by a unknown subject. The suspect held a knife and allegedly threatened the employee with the knife and prevented her escape. The suspect also then allegedly stole the employee’s cell phone and wanted money. Eventually the employee was able to escape and then was able to report the incident. By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled.

That same afternoon, MCPD personnel served a search warrant at 949 9th ST SE, Mason City, IA. Ryan Matthew Allen was present and arrested on out of county warrants. 3 stolen motorcycles, 1 stolen motor scooter, suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia, and other suspected evidence items were seized by law enforcement. Allen was eventually transported to the Floyd County jail on the arrest warrants.

Today, the Mason City Police Department applied for an arrest warrant on Ryan Matthew Allen charging him with 3rd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Robbery related to the Aug 7 Dairy Queen incident. The new arrest warrants were served on Allen in the Floyd County jail this afternoon.
