At about 1:17 AM on July 29, 2021, a Cerro Gordo county deputy attempted a traffic stop after a vehicle was seen driving at a high rate of speed away from the area of a suspect’s residence who was wanted on several arrest warrants. When the deputy turned around on the roadway to get behind the 2012 Honda Odyssey, Jason Wayne Robison, 48, of Mason City attempted to flee in the vehicle. Robison drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed from about 300th Street (County Road B20) on Highway 65, driving South into Mason City. The Deputy was attempting to pursue Robison after Robison accelerated to at least 100 miles per hour on Highway 65. The Deputy was attempting to catch up with the vehicle when Robison attempted to turn West on 16th Street NW and lost contol of the van. Robison crashed into the residence at 1542 North Federal, causing severe damage to his van and to the foundation of the residence. Robison was quickly taken into custody by the Deputy. Robison was taken to Mercy One North Iowa for treatment by Mason City Fire Medics for pain after the accident, and then will be taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail once released. Robison had warrants for the following: Voluntary absence and escape of felon and habitual offender, and Burglary third degree. Robison is also charged with the following as a result of the pursuit: eluding, driving under suspension, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The passenger in the vehicle Mary Elizabeth Robison, 54, of Mason City was also arrested and is charged with possession of marijuana, 3rd of subsequent offense. She was uninjured and was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail where she is being held on $2,000 bond.

Deputies were assisted by the Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Department.

The sheriff’s office says Robison also fled from law enforcement on foot during the early afternoon hours on July 28 in the same area of his residence and got away during that incident.
