On July 22, 2021 at 11:30 AM, the Marshalltown Police Department was conducting an investigation at 3715 Columbine Circle in Ames. As Marshalltown officers entered the home, a gunshot was heard inside the residence. Ames police was contacted, and officers responded to the residence. Law enforcement officers made entry into the residence. They located a deceased male in the basement. Based on the initial investigation, it appears the male died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Ames Police Department and Marshalltown Police Department continue to investigate this incident.
