MASON CITY – A Mason City man who recently pleaded guilty to prostitution in Cerro Gordo county and was given a suspended prison sentence is now guilty of prostitution in Wright county and got more probation for his latest offense.
David Ross Welsher was accused in Wright county of sexual abuse by the sheriff’s department back in June of 2020. The alleged crime was committed on September 1, 2017, records show. In a plea deal, Welsher pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of prostitution and was sentenced this week to a suspended 5-year prison sentence and 5 years of probation. He must pay $2,894.54 in fines, court costs and surcharges.
Mason City police filed a charge of class D felony prostitution against Welsher, now age 39, back in June 18, 2020. The alleged crime was committed on August 23, 2019, records show. Welsher pled guilty to a charge of felony D prostitution and was sentenced to 5 years in prison (suspended), given three years of probation, and must pay $1,229.12 in fines, court fees and surcharges.
Welsher was jailed but released to the custody of Iowa corrections on June 19.

So… This guy payed someone for sex and they where a consenting adults. Two consenting adults made an arrangement and payment for services rendered and it was agreed upon. This guy is getting in more trouble than aaron wells 24 of mason city who raped two children under the age of ten? The child molester gets zero time even less probation and a suspended sentence? So… Judges around here think it’s ok to rape children but paying an adult to blow you is apparently a serious crime? I’m so glad I have a plan to leave this shit hole state asap. Oldest industry in human history is the sex trade. Just legalize it and keep it safe and regulated. Why’s that so hard? It’s 2021 the bible is a story book for weak minds. We can legalize prostitution and keep people on both sides of the transaction safe. Look at that guy and ask yourself how else would he ever get laid?
