OBIT: Kathryn Head

Kathryn Head, 83, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Funeral service for Kathryn Head will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Reverend Samuel Rambo from Amazing Grace Church officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and continue one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kathryn Ann Head (Oudekerk), the daughter of Harm and Glendora (Schmidt) Oudekerk, was born on November 1, 1937 near Nashua, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Charles Corrance Head I on June 17, 1956 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. The couple was blessed with four children: David, Kathleen, Shelley, and Steven.

Kathryn worked for Younkers as a cook, Dunkin Donuts in Des Moines, and Ponderosa Steak House in Des Moines. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, watching cowboy and western movies, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Her favorite color was yellow and had a wide yellow collection. Her biggest fear was snakes. Above everything in her life, Kathryn’s greatest joy was her time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Living family members include her children: Shelley Rae (William) High Bear and Steven Scott (Jessica) Head; grandchildren: Scott (Emily) Head, Jason (special friend, Crystal Vanbrocklin) Head, Brent (special friend, Rebecca Mennenga) Foster, Mike (special friend, Jamie Griffin) Foster, Ashley Watkins, Jared (Amanda) Watkins, Dwight Watkins, Jordan (Mindy Zieman) Watkins, Sarah Watkins, Chloe (Rae) Litcht, Charles Head II, and Margaret Mae Head; great-grandchildren: Kaydn Sorenson, Kyvrik Foster, Araynna Foster, Marshall Watkins, Easton Head, Dominick Head, Haven Head, Cameron Head, Bennett Head, and Madelyn Head; sister-in-law, Barb Oudekerk; nieces and nephews: Julie (Sonny) Myers, Kim (Larry) Gibbs, Jim Oudekerk, and Diane (Duane) Bell; along with many more family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Kathleen Head; son, David Head; and brother, Don Oudekerk.
