MASON CITY – NIACC freshman Laken Lienhard (utiity/pitcher) was selected to the all-NFCA NJCAA Division II Midwest Region second team.
Lienhard, who was a first-team all-NJCAA Region XI Division II pick, hit .436 with 14 home runs, 12 doubles, 30 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. The 14 home runs ranks third on NIACC’s all-time single-season list.
Lienhard, who was 8-15 as a pitcher, had a 3.39 earned run average in 142 1/3 innings pitched. Lienhard, who is from Cresco, struck out 156 batters, which ranks third on the school’s single-season strikeout list.
Kirkwood (Kori Wedeking, Peggy Klingler, Randyn Carter) and DMACC (Kaylie Reynolds, Sophie Maras, Abby Husak) both landed three players on the all-Midwest Region first team. Iowa Central (Loghen Schnetzer) and Iowa Lakes (Lexi Chase) both had one first-team selection.
Also on the second team from the ICCAC were Delaney Vetter (Ellsworth) and Mackenzie Rosenboom (Iowa Central)
