Minnesota man dead in Worth county Interstate 35 auto crash

WORTH COUNTY – A Minnesota man is dead after a Worth county Interstate 35 auto crash Wednesday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place Wednesday, May 19 at about 3:44 AM. A 2021 Freightliner M2 driven by 26-year-old Mohamud Ahmed Mohamud of Saint Paul, Minnesota, was southbound at the 203 mile marker when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. The truck struck cable barriers followed by concrete bridge pillars.

As a result of the crash, Mohamud was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Worth County Sheriffs Office, Iowa Department of Transportation, Hanlontown Fire, Fertile Fire, Manly Fire and Mason City Fire.
