Mason City police seek dog owner after canine bites woman walking on trail

MASON CITY – Mason City police are seeking a dog owner after his canine bit a woman walking on a trail.

On Saturday, May 8, 2021 a woman reported to the Mason City Police Department she had been bitten by a dog while walking on Zerble’s Trail at about 10:30 AM.

The woman told police while on the trail she encountered a male possibly having reddish colored hair, slender build in his 30’s who wore eye glasses walking two dogs. The dogs were described as being Labrador mixes, one yellow and the other one black in color.

The woman said as she passed by them the yellow dog jumped up and bit her causing a minor injury. After the bite occurred, the male and the two dogs were last seen walking from the trail toward 18th and North Pennsylvania.

The police department is actively seeking the identity of the male to help verify that the yellow dog has its current vaccinations.
