Iowa man caught after chase from school in Janesville

JANESVILLE, IOWA – An Iowa man was caught after a chase from a school in Janesville, police say.

On April 18, 2021, at approximately 4:50 AM, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a suspicious vehicle at the Janesville School. During the incident, 18-year-old Dakota Moeller of rural Janesville led a Bremer County Deputy in a pursuit that traveled into Black Hawk County. The pursuit ended when Moeller lost control and entered a ditch on Butler Road. It was learned the vehicle had been stolen from a Janesville residence earlier in the morning.

As a result fp the incident, Moeller was arrested and transported to the Bremer County Jail. He was charged with second-degree theft (D felony), eluding (D felony), and carrying weapons on school grounds.

This incident is still being investigated and additional charges are likely, police say.
