OBIT: Marnie Marie Reifenrath

Marnie Marie Reifenrath, 36, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home on March 22, 2021. She was born December 21, 1984 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL to John and Cynthia (Frank) Reifenrath.

Marnie attended Decorah High School where she became a state diver in Swimming and Diving and also excelled at soccer. Marnie went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a MBA from the Minnesota School of Business. While Marnie was a fierce competitor and driven sales woman, she loved people and found her passion in healthcare helping others. Marnie was most recently employed in Rehab Administration for MercyOne in Mason City, IA where she worked administratively as well as with patients in a physical therapy assistant role. Marnie was also actively pursuing an additional degree in Nursing as she wished to continue to deepen her healthcare career and ability to provide patient care and help people. She also had a creative spirit with an eye for design and owned her own jewelry company.

Marnie was an avid runner and found the most joy in life out on trail runs with her black and tan Coonhound, Bailey Rae, who she rescued from an animal shelter. Bailey was once an aggressive, hard to home hound that became a loving companion and Marnie’s snuggle bug. Marnie assisted many animal shelters in transporting adopted and fostered pets. Marnie loved all animals and greatly enjoyed spending time on her boyfriend’s farm around cattle, chickens, donkeys, cats and farm dogs.

Marnie loved life and loved people – she loved her family, her friends, the patients she worked with and everyone she came in contact with. Marnie had the unique gift to be able to love everyone and everything unconditionally. She could see the inner beauty of people with complete disregard to their appearance, race, sex, or status. Marnie lived out loud and didn’t hold back. She was charismatic, hard working – a fighter until the end. It is with a heavy heart that we wish our beloved Marnie Marie a final farewell.

Those left to cherish Marnie’s memory are her parents, John and Cynthia (Frank) Reifenrath; siblings, Katharine (Patrick) Krier, Peter (Lauren) Reifenrath; and her goddaughter, Eva Magnunson.

Marnie is preceded in death by great grandmother Mary Bennett Reifenrath; grandmother, Dorothy Ann Reifenrath, grandfather, John “Jack” Reifenrath, and grandfather, Harry Joseph Frank.

The family had a private blessing and cremation on March 26, 2021. A celebration of Marnie’s life will be held in the coming months.
Please keep Marnie in your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 South Birch Road, Mason City, Iowa 50401 or through the donation link on their website at http://www.hsni.org.
