Gov. Reynolds appoints John Sandy as District Court Judge

DES MOINES– Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of John Sandy as a district court judge in Judicial Election District 3A.

Sandy, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, currently practices law with the Sandy Law Firm, P.C., in Spirit Lake and serves as a Minnesota Assistant Public Defender. Sandy received his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and his law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

Sandy fills the vacancy created by the retirement of District Court Judge David Lester. Judicial Election District 3A includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, and Palo Alto counties.
