MASON CITY – The No. 9 NIACC wrestling team edged No. 6 Iowa Central 26-23 in an ICCAC dual meet Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (2-1 in duals) picked up pins from Clarence Lee-Green (125) and Jose Valdez (197).
Lee-Green (2-1) pinned Iowa Central’s Chad Klein in :35 and Valdez (3-0) stuck the Tritons’ Hugo Harp in 6:27 for his second fall of the season. Lee-Green, who is ranked third in Intermat’s NJCAA Division I rankings at 125, improved his career record to 21-11 with six falls.
NIACC also received a technical fall from 165-pounder Christian Minto, who is ranked second, and a decision from 184-pound freshman Chase McCleish.
Minto (3-0) improved his career record to 25-1 with a 16-1 technical fall of Keaton Geerts. It was Minto’s fifth career technical fall.
McCleish (2-1) took a 3-1 decision from the Tritons’ Aiden Carr.
NIACC returns to action March 7 at the NJCAA North Central District meet in Council Bluffs.
