AMES – Police in Ames are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in an apartment.
On February 20, 2021, at 7:02 p.m., the Ames Police Department conducted a welfare check at an apartment at 407 South 5th Street. Officers entered the apartment and found a deceased female inside. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
Investigators are canvassing the area and processing the crime scene. The cause of death is unknown at this time, but the circumstances appear suspicious. Investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
