Police investigating after man shot in Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE – Police are investigating after a man was shot in Fort Dodge Friday afternoon.

Fort Dodge police say that on Friday, February 12 at approximately 2:40 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call regarding possible shots fired in the area of the 1100 block of 2nd Street Northwest in Fort Dodge. Information provided indicated some sort of disturbance had taken place and at least one shot was possibly fired. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, all parties involved had left the area. The initial investigation determined that multiple individuals were involved in some type of altercation. During that altercation, it was believed that a shot had been fired. At that time, it was unclear if anyone had been injured.

At approximately 3:15 PM, a 21‐year‐old male arrived at the Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the midsection. It was determined that this male was involved in the altercation reported earlier. The male was treated at Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center, before being life flighted to Des Moines in stable condition.

The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to look into this incident.

Considering all the shootings and violence in fort dodge this past year, I’m going to take a wild guess and say, drugs, and non white. I may be wrong, but then I may be right.
