Iowa man charged with murder after shooting and killing his nephew

ADEL, IOWA – An Iowa man is charged with murder after shooting and killing his nephew.

On January 20, 2021, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office charged 37-year-old Mark Daniel Mash of rural Adel, with Murder in the 1′ Degree and Dominion/Control of a Firearm by a Domestic Abuser.

On December 22, 2020 the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation began a homicide investigation into the death of 20 year old Jakob Mash of Perry. Jakob Mash was located at the intersection of 258th and K Avenue deceased from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Mark Mash was detained on December 22, 2020 on other charges and remains in the Dallas County Jail. The firearm that was used in this homicide was located and seized. Jakob Mash was Mark Mash’s nephew.
