CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman was arrested for drunk driving after an auto accident.
On December 7, 2020, at 3:35 PM, officers with the Charles City police department responded to the 900 block of Court Street for a two-vehicle collision. Police say a red 2017 Mazda driven by 64-year-old Joan Semelhack of Charles City was backing up when she struck a legally-parked white 2012 Chevy 1500. The pickup incurred minor damage amounting to $200. However, after an investigation, Semelhack was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated and cited for unsafe backing and failure to provide proof of insurance.
No one was injured in the accident.
