Woman seriously hurt, dog killed by fleeing driver in Ames

AMES – A woman was seriously hurt and her dog killed by a fleeing driver in Ames.

On November 17, 2020, at 5:56 a.m., the Ames Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 2100 block of Oakwood Road. Responding officers located an injured woman and an injured dog in the roadway. The woman was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by ambulance and treated for a serious head injury. The dog died a short time later due to internal injuries. The vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of the officers.

Officers located a broken passenger side mirror at the accident scene and are searching for a 2018 or newer dark gray Subaru with a missing passenger side mirror. Investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department.
