Convicted Winnebago county sex offender dies in Iowa prison

CORALVILLE – A convicted Winnebago county sex offender died in an Iowa prison this week.

Clarence Christian Miller was pronounced dead due to natural causes (not COVID related) at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in a hospice room of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center where he had been housed due to chronic illness. Miller was 88 years old at the time of his death.

Miller had been serving a 50 year sentence for multiple convictions of Sex Abuse 2nd Degree (709.3) from Winnebago County. His sentence began on November 26, 2013.

Miller, formerly of Thompson, Iowa, was found guilty by a jury of two counts of felony B 2nd degree sexual abuse which involved 8 year old girls. Judge Dedra Schroeder imposed two 25-year sentences on Miller.
