SAC COUNTY – A second inmate who violently escaped from the Sac County jail days ago has been nabbed while hiding in a garage.
The Sac County Sheriff’s Office says that on the evening of October 13, 2020, around 6:30 p.m., Pottawattamie County deputies arrested Shawn Freier at a residence in Walnut, Iowa. According to PCSO report, Freier was in an upstairs area of a garage. He was taken in to custody without incident and transported to the Pottawattamie County jail in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Sac County deputies will be transporting Freier to the Sac County jail today.
Joseph Sly and Shawn Freier escaped the Sac County jail on Friday October 9, 2020 around 4:30 PM. Sly was located the following morning in Sac City. Both men are now charged with escape from custody, assault while participating in a felony and assault on persons in a certain occupation. Joseph Sly in currently being held in the Buena Vista County jail. Freier will return to the Sac County jail.
