CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman drive her 4-door Impala right into the rear of a stopped Jeep, causing over $5,000 in damages and herself a pricy traffic ticket.

The accident took place on October 9, 2020. At 12:12 PM that day, Charles City police were called to investigate an two-vehicle accident at the corner of South Main Street and 11th Street. Police say a red 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 70-year-old Sharon Hruska of Charles City was stopped at the stop sign at this intersection, facing eastbound. The Jeep was rear-ended by a 2007 Chevy Impala operated by 30-year-old Yelena Harp of Charles City.

As a result of the collision, police say there was $5,500 in combined damages, but no one was hurt.

Harp was cited for failure to maintain control, a simple misdemeanor, and ordered to pay $412.87 in fines and court fees to Iowa courts.
