Two dead, at least 10 others injured in shooting in Waterloo club

WATERLOO – So far, two people have died and at least ten others are hurt in connection to a shooting this weekend at a Waterloo club.

Waterloo Police continue to investigate the shooting that occurred in and around 501 W. 4th Street, in Waterloo early Saturday morning where at least 12 people were injured. They range in age from 21 to 31. As of today, a 22-year-old male and 28-year-old female died as a result of this incident. Two victims are at the University of Iowa Hospital and a Clinic in Iowa City receiving treatment ,while the remaining victims who suffered from a variety of injuries from glass, falling/trampling, and gunshot wounds were released.

At this time, police say, the investigation indicates this incident was the result of at least two individuals recklessly shooting at each other inside and outside the building.

Police say they have completed the crime scene processing at 501 W. 4th Street and surrounding area and their investigators obtained and served several court orders, one of which has resulted in the arrest of Sir Frank Nelson III, age 25 of Waterloo. Nelson was arrested as a result of unrelated warrants, is a felon, and was found in illegal possession of firearm.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing. Police continue to seek out, and speak with witnesses to this matter and are asking for anyone who was in/around 501 W. 4th Street at the time of this incident to contact Waterloo Police at 319-291-4340 Option 3/Investigations.
